Hyde Park has recorded 76 Part 1 crimes through Sept. 19, down nearly 53% from 161 in the same period in 2025. Part 1 crimes are the FBI's category for serious offenses including assault, robbery, burglary and theft.

The Cincinnati Police Department's latest neighborhood report, updated Monday, Sept. 21, covers the 28-day window from Aug. 23 through Sept. 19. District 2 officers recorded three incidents in the neighborhood during that stretch, down from four in the prior 28 days.

Property crime is driving the overall decline. Hyde Park has seen 63 property offenses in 2026 compared to 156 through the same date in 2025, a drop of nearly 60%.

Every property category fell. Thefts from vehicles dropped to 25 from 49, auto thefts fell to 13 from 32, and personal and other thefts declined to 20 from 61. Burglaries fell to 5 from 14.

Violent crime moved the other direction. The neighborhood has recorded 13 violent offenses in 2026, up from 5 through the same period in 2025.

The three-year average for violent crime through this point in the calendar is 4.67 incidents. The 2026 count includes four aggravated assaults, four strangulations, three robberies and two rapes. No homicides have been reported.

In 2025, Hyde Park had logged zero robberies and one strangulation through the same date. Strangulation became a standalone offense under the Ohio Revised Code in April 2023, so comparisons before 2024 are limited.

The three incidents logged during the latest 28-day window were spread across the neighborhood. CPD's block-level report lists an aggravated assault on the 2400 block of Grandin Road at 2:37 a.m. Aug. 31.

A theft from a vehicle was reported on the 2600 block of Madison Road at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 6. A personal theft was reported on the 3400 block of Edwards Road at 10:44 p.m. Sept. 11.

The Hyde Park figures complete a mixed picture across neighboring communities. Oakley saw a 17% year-to-date increase in Part 1 crime, as we reported Tuesday.
