Cincinnati Country Day lost 50-19 to Clermont Northeastern on Friday, Sept. 18. The Division VII Nighthawks dropped to 1-3 on the season after returning to the field following an injury crisis that forced them to cancel a game one week earlier.

CCD had called off its Week 4 matchup against Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy on Sept. 11 because the roster was too banged up to compete. Coach Jim Collins told WCPO at the time that five to six players couldn't practice or play and only 14 were available. The Ohio High School Athletic Association said the canceled game would be regarded as a forfeit unless it received additional information requiring further review.

"We did not have have enough healthy bodies," Collins told WCPO on Sept. 11. "We had a lot of injuries."

Collins said he was "100% hoping" the Nighthawks could host Clermont Northeastern the following week. They did take the field, but the Rockets, who entered the game at 1-3, controlled the contest.

Clermont Northeastern running back Tyler Watkins powered the victory with 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns on offense. He added seven solo tackles and two sacks on defense. The two-way performance earned Watkins a "Friday Night Star" designation in WLWT's Blitz recap of top Week 5 performers across Greater Cincinnati.

No individual CCD statistics from the game were available at publication.

The loss continued a difficult stretch for the Nighthawks, a Division VII, Region 28 program based in Indian Hill. CCD opened the season with a 30-26 win over Summit Country Day in the Country Day Cup on Aug. 21. Losses to Blanchester (41-20 on Aug. 28) and Western Hills (66-48 on Sept. 4) followed before the injury-forced cancellation.

CCD's 1-3 record reflects games played. The forfeit status of the canceled Week 4 contest remains unresolved. The Nighthawks' Week 6 opponent has not been confirmed.
