The Christ Hospital Health Network Has announced a $50 million philanthropic commitment from the Farmer Family Foundation, the largest gift in the hospital's history.

The health system announced the commitment at a Saturday, Oct. 17 gala, as first reported by the Cincinnati Business Courier, according to Local 12. Christ Hospital called the gift one of the largest healthcare-specific philanthropic investments ever made in the Tri-State region.

The money will fund modernization and expansion of the hospital's Mount Auburn campus at 2139 Auburn Ave. The campus serves patients across Hyde Park, Oakley and Mount Lookout.

Debbie Hayes, Christ Hospital Health Network president and CEO, called the gift "a defining investment in the future of our health system" in a news release.

The Farmer Family Foundation is not new to Christ Hospital. The Cincinnati Business Courier described the foundation as "a familiar donor". The Cincinnati-based private foundation supports hospitals, universities, arts organizations and social-service groups across Ohio and beyond, according to its public tax filings. In its 2024 tax year, the foundation's median grant was $15,000. The $50 million commitment is an extraordinary outlier.

The hospital has operated in Mount Auburn since 1893.

The announcement did not specify a project timeline.
