Summit Country Day beat St. Bernard-Elmwood Place 38-36 on Friday, Sept. 25, snapping the Silver Knights' two-game skid against the Titans in a Miami Valley Conference thriller at home.
The win was Summit's fourth straight and improved the Silver Knights to 4-1 on the season.
Summit entered the game ranked No. 7 in the Division V, Region 20 computer points standings. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, ranked No. 5 in Division VI, Region 24, had opened the season 5-0 for the first time in program history, according to Titans coach Kyle Hogan.
The Titans beat Summit in both 2024 and 2025. The Silver Knights hadn't topped St. Bernard-Elmwood Place since a 16-14 win on Sept. 8, 2023, Hafner's first season as head coach.
Hafner, now in his fourth year leading the program, had praised his roster's chemistry before the matchup. In a Sept. 19 WCPO preview, he singled out sophomore wide receiver and safety Korde Williams, calling him "like another coach on the field." Sophomore running back David Poignard Jr., junior running back Dillon Minton and senior quarterback Colt Fry were also among players to watch heading into Week 6.
The loss dropped St. Bernard-Elmwood Place to 5-1. The Titans set a single-season program record with nine wins in 2025.
