Seven Hills senior Matia Kastner won the OHSAA Division III boys golf state championship Tuesday, Oct. 13, at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury.

Kastner shot a 6-under-par 138 over two rounds and won by four strokes, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Cincinnati Country Day freshman Griffin Long also competed at the state tournament, finishing 21st with a two-round total of 157.

The title caps Kastner's high school career at Seven Hills.

He entered the final round in a five-way tie for first after an opening-round 71. Independence's Kaden Schuette, Ottawa Hills' Cooper Friedman, Waterford's Brock Hurley and Wellington School's Will Myers all matched that score on Day 1, according to the Chagrin Valley Conference.

Kastner separated himself on Day 2. He carded seven birdies in the final round, including five over his last seven holes, and posted a 5-under-par 67 to pull away from the field, ohio.golf reported. Team Ohio Golf noted on X that Kastner "run away with the title" down the stretch.

Long, the lone Cincinnati Country Day entrant, posted rounds that placed him inside the top 25 of the individual field as a freshman. His 157 put him 19 strokes behind Kastner but ahead of dozens of upperclassmen in the 72-player tournament, according to the Enquirer.

The Seven Hills squad finished seventh as a team with a 672. Jason Zhou was the next Stinger after Kastner, shooting a 169 to tie for 42nd. Leo Cai tied for 58th at 181, Rishik Shukla tied for 61st at 184 and Sid Sirigam tied for 64th at 188.

Ottawa Hills dominated the team competition, finishing with a 586 to win the championship by 42 strokes over runner-up Pettisville. The Green Bears held a 22-stroke lead after the first round and never looked back, according to ohio.golf.

The two-day tournament ran Monday, Oct. 12, through Tuesday, Oct. 13. The OHSAA golf season ends Saturday, Oct. 17.
