Oakley recorded 48 Part 1 crimes in the 28 days ending Oct. 10, up 26% from 38 the prior cycle, according to a Cincinnati Police Department neighborhood crime report.
Violent crime tripled. The period logged one homicide, one rape and one strangulation, compared with a single robbery in the previous 28 days. The rape and strangulation share the same incident number and occurred at the 4200 block of Romaine Drive on Oct. 3, according to CPD data.
Property crime climbed too, rising from 37 offenses to 45. Personal and other thefts accounted for most of the increase, jumping from 31 to 38. Geier Drive and Paxton Avenue saw the heaviest concentration, with multiple theft reports on both streets across the four-week span.
Three burglaries were reported, up from two the prior period. They occurred at the 2900 block of Madison Road on Sept. 21, the 4900 block of Marburg Avenue on Sept. 23 and the 4200 block of Allendorf Drive on Oct. 10.
Thefts from vehicles rose from three to four. Those offenses were reported on Marburg Avenue, Geier Drive, Romaine Drive and Paxton Avenue.
Auto theft fell from one to zero, while robberies also dropped from one to zero.
The year-to-date picture shows a similar pattern. Oakley has recorded 520 Part 1 crimes through Oct. 10, up 12.8% from 461 at the same point in 2025. Personal and other thefts are the main driver, with 420 reported so far in 2026 compared with 332 last year, a 26.5% increase.
Some YTD categories are trending down. Auto thefts have fallen by more than half, from 39 to 19. Robberies dropped from nine to two. Part 1 violent crime overall is down 30.8% year over year, from 13 offenses to nine.
Homicides are an exception. Oakley has recorded three in 2026 after recording zero in 2025.
The CPD notes that strangulations became a separate offense category under the Ohio Revised Code in April 2023 and are excluded from data predating 2024. All figures in the report are preliminary and subject to revision.
