Oakley recorded 48 serious crimes between July 19 and Aug. 15, a 26% spike from the prior 28-day period that erases the improvement we reported Aug. 10.
The CPD District 2 neighborhood crime report, updated Aug. 17, shows the neighborhood logged 48 Part 1 offenses in the window ending Aug. 15, up from 38 in the prior period. Personal theft drove the bulk of the increase, rising from 30 to 34 incidents. Theft from auto more than doubled, jumping from four to 10 break-ins. Burglaries tripled as well, from one to three.
Year-to-date, Oakley has recorded 437 Part 1 crimes in 2026, up 28.53% from 340 at the same point in 2025. Personal and other theft accounts for most of that gap: 353 incidents so far this year, a 42% increase over 2025's 248.
Auto theft is the one bright spot. The category dropped to zero in the latest period and stands at 18 year-to-date, down 40% from 30 at this point last year.
Where it's concentrated
Geier Drive in the 3100–3200 blocks was the hardest-hit street, with at least 14 personal theft incidents logged between July 20 and Aug. 7. Marburg Avenue's 4600 block was second, recording at least 10 thefts between July 31 and Aug. 15. Seven of those Marburg incidents occurred in a single 80-minute window on Aug. 12 between 5:28 p.m. and 6:48 p.m.
Ten vehicle break-ins were scattered across Allendorf Drive, Madison Road, Ridge Avenue, Alamo Avenue, Brotherton Road, Broadview Drive, Brookstone Drive, Geier Drive and Paxton Avenue. Two hit the 4200 block of Allendorf Drive on July 21.
Three burglaries were reported: on Markbreit Avenue on July 24, on Marburg Avenue on Aug. 5 and again on Marburg on Aug. 15.
Madison Road homicide now in the data
The report formally logs a homicide at the 2800 block of Madison Road on Aug. 6 at 2:35 p.m. (Incident No. 2026-INC-015483). That incident is the death of 7-year-old William Evans, as we reported Aug. 14. Three people have been indicted on 13 counts each, including aggravated murder. Bond was set at $1.1 million for each defendant.
It is Oakley's second homicide of 2026. The neighborhood recorded zero homicides in all of 2025.
Overall violent crime remains flat year-to-date at five incidents, matching 2025's total, but the composition has shifted: 2026 includes two homicides and zero aggravated assaults, while 2025 had zero homicides and one aggravated assault.
