Oakley bus riders could lose off-peak and weekend Route 10 service at the Oakley Transit Center under a proposal Metro is taking comments on through Oct. 9.
The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA), which operates as Metro, is seeking public comment on a package of route changes set to take effect Sunday, Dec. 6. The Route 10 cut would remove service to the Oakley Transit Center outside peak commuting hours and on weekends.
Erie Avenue would still connect to the Oakley Transit Center seven days a week through Route 37, Metro said Sept. 25.
Two public comment meetings remain. A virtual session is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon via Zoom. An in-person meeting follows Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library, 3 South Room D, 800 Vine St.
A first meeting was held Thursday, Oct. 1, at Madeira City Council Chambers.
All comments must be received by noon Friday, Oct. 9, to be included in Metro's final decision. Feedback can also be submitted by email at [email protected].
The Dec. 6 package includes other changes across the system. Metro proposes extending Route 51 to Norwood/Surrey Square in response to rider feedback, adding midday Route 50 service to the Freestore Foodbank from Government Square, and reducing off-peak afternoon trips on Routes 20 and 31 due to low ridership.
Route 61 service through Madeira could also be revised under two options: rerouting through Kenwood, Dawson, Miami and Euclid, or ending the route at Kenwood Mall and dropping Madeira service entirely. The Madeira Park & Ride would still be served by Route 2 under either option.
WLWT reported Oct. 1 that Metro officials are still working toward final decisions on the proposed changes.
Riders who want to weigh in can attend the library meeting or email Metro before the comment window closes.
