Guitarist Roger Klug brings 'chamber rock' to The Redmoor Aug. 25–26

Guitarist Roger Klug will perform two nights of American songbook favorites at The Redmoor in Mount Lookout on Aug. 25 and Aug. 26 as part of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra's Summermusik Festival.

Klug, whom the festival calls one of its most requested returning artists, curates and performs "American Beauties," a 75-minute program blending his signature "chamber rock" arrangements of songs by Paul Simon, Randy Newman, Brian Wilson and Bob Dylan. Both shows start at 7:30 p.m. No intermission.

The concerts are part of Summermusik's Chamber Crawl series, which stages small-ensemble performances at venues across Greater Cincinnati rather than traditional concert halls. The Redmoor, a 225-seat art-deco venue at 3187 Linwood Ave. that has operated since 1938, fits the bill. Mandie and Scott McDonald have run the woman-owned event house for more than 18 years.

Summermusik executive director Evan Gidley told Soapbox Media, which the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra underwrites, that more than 4,000 people attended last summer's performances, with attendance growing steadily year over year.

General admission seating means first-come, first-served, though subscribers and Flex Pass holders get preferred spots. One drink is included with every ticket. The Redmoor's from-scratch kitchen and full bar will be open for additional food and drinks, making the evening as much a neighborhood night out as a concert.

Tickets are $45 for adults, $30 for young professionals under 40 and $12 for students and children, plus a $3 ticketing fee, according to the festival's event page. They're available at summermusik.org or by calling the box office at 513-723-1182, ext. 2.

Limited free parking is available on the hill behind the building. Metered street parking and a metered lot are also available in Mount Lookout Square.
