Gilligan Co. has acquired three parcels at the corner of Madison Road and Red Bank Expressway for $3.5 million, with plans to build a GoCo Shell convenience store and a Dunkin' Donuts on the site.

The Rally's fast food restaurant and the Qwench building currently occupying the corner will be demolished to make way for the new development, the Cincinnati Business Courier reported Aug. 20. The Courier also indicated a pizza restaurant is planned for the corner, though the specific brand was not confirmed in the accessible portion of the report.

The intersection sits in Madisonville at the Oakley border, along the Madison Road corridor that connects the two neighborhoods. It is one of the busiest crossroads on the east side, feeding traffic between Red Bank Expressway and the stretch of Madison Road that runs through Oakley's commercial core. Medpace's global headquarters campus sits directly adjacent to the site.

The acquisition signals continued commercial investment along the corridor, which has seen steady development pressure in recent years as Oakley Station, Rookwood and the surrounding neighborhoods have added residents and retail.

Gilligan Co. is headquartered on Edwards Road in Hyde Park and ranks among the largest private companies in the Cincinnati region. The company operates GoCo-branded Shell convenience stores and holds Dunkin' Donuts franchise rights in the area. The $3.5 million price covers the land acquisition. Total project cost, construction timeline and permit details have not been publicly disclosed.
