Cincinnati Country Day School landed the No. 6 spot among Ohio's best college prep private high schools in Niche's 2027 rankings, released Monday, Sept. 28.
The Indian Hill school placed sixth out of 1,069 schools statewide in the college prep category, as first reported by WKRC. Niche's ranking page lists the full results.
Niche's college prep ranking weighs where students enroll and apply to college, college-level coursework, college enrollment and graduation rates, and parent and student surveys. This year it dropped SAT and ACT scores and added a Culture & Diversity grade, now 20% of the score. A new Culture & Diversity grade, drawn from racial and economic diversity data and parent and student surveys, also factored in. Full methodology details are available on Niche's website.
The school scored well across the board. On its Niche profile, Cincinnati Country Day earned A-plus grades in academics, college prep and clubs and activities, along with an A in teachers and sports and an A-minus in diversity. The school holds a 4.59-out-of-5 user rating from 149 reviews.
CCDS, founded in 1926, sits on a 60-acre campus and enrolls roughly 850 students from early childhood through 12th grade, with about 300 in the upper school. Head of School Rob Zimmerman, a 1998 CCDS graduate, has drawn attention for implementing what has been described as the region's first bell-to-bell smartphone ban and for prioritizing teaching methods grounded in the science of learning.
The Seven Hills School, also in Cincinnati, claimed the No. 1 spot in the college prep private high school category and topped three other Niche lists. The Summit Country Day School came in at No. 9. On the public side, William Mason High School ranked No. 4 and Walnut Hills High School ranked No. 6.
When speaking about the rankings, Matt Bolton, head of school at Seven Hills, told WKRC "being recognized as the No. 1 College Prep Private High School in Ohio, along with four additional first-place rankings in the Cincinnati area, is a testament to the incredible Seven Hills community."
