Cincinnati police are investigating the death of a young boy found inside a home on the 2800 block of Madison Road in Oakley on Aug. 6, a case the Hamilton County Coroner has officially ruled a homicide.
No arrests have been made.
Officers first arrived at the residence just after 1 p.m. Thursday. Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Kode Sammarco confirmed the deceased is a juvenile boy and said she believes he lived in the home, though she was not certain how long. Sammarco called child homicides particularly tragic and said investigators have suspicions about the cause of death but would not confirm anything until after an autopsy, which was scheduled for Aug. 7, according to WLWT.
Three people were taken into custody and are being interviewed by detectives, Cincinnati Police Department spokesperson Brad Underwood confirmed to the Cincinnati Enquirer. No one has been charged. CPD Capt. Jennifer Mitsch said investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no risk to the community.
The coroner's office has not released the boy's name or age.
Chris Papa, who lives across the street and has been there two years with his wife, said he had seen people from the home walking a dog but never noticed a child. "I have seen people in and out of there. I've seen the dog getting walked. But like, yeah, I never seen kids in that house," Papa told Local 12.
