Asiana Thai & Sushi of Hyde Park is gone. The Thai and sushi restaurant, a fixture of the neighborhood since 2002, has permanently closed after its landlord declined to renew the lease.

The owners announced the closure in social media posts, according to WKRC. The restaurant's location-specific website has been taken down, and online listings now show the Hyde Park spot as permanently closed.

Asiana was known for its Thai stir-fries, noodles and curries alongside a full sushi menu. The restaurant operated in Hyde Park for more than two decades before losing its lease.

The closure does not affect the restaurant's second location in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, which remains open.

No information is available about what will happen to the Hyde Park space. The landlord has not commented publicly, and no new tenant has been announced.

Second east-side closure in a week

Asiana's shuttering marks the second long-running independent Asian restaurant on Cincinnati's east side to close within days. Stone Bowl, a Korean and ramen spot at 3355 Madison Road in Oakley, announced its permanent closure on Aug. 16 after 12 years in business.

Stone Bowl owners Young Park and Misook Gwon cited a family job relocation. "Four years ago, my wife accepted a job in another state, and since then our family has been temporarily living apart," the couple wrote in a Facebook post, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "We did our best to make it work, but now the time has come for us to close this chapter, reunite our family, and begin the next one together."

The two closures stem from different circumstances. Asiana's owners lost their lease; Park and Gwon chose to close so their family could live in the same state again. But both leave holes in east-side dining that independent operators had filled for over a decade.

Asiana's Crestview Hills, Kentucky, location remains open.
