The Wasson Way trail through Oakley and Hyde Park needs hands in the dirt this summer. The nonprofit is calling on neighbors to help weed and garden along the greenway at three sessions in August and September.

Adam Behm posted the volunteer schedule on the Wasson Way events calendar on Monday, July 20. All three sessions run 8 to 10 a.m. and focus on weeding and landscape maintenance at specific spots along the corridor.

Here's the schedule:

Friday, August 7 — Meet at the corner of Paxton Avenue and the trail, near Cryo Place. The group may move down to Marburg Avenue if time allows.

Saturday, August 22 — Meet at the corner of Michigan Avenue and the trail. The group may walk over to Madison Avenue if time allows.

Thursday, September 3 — Meet at the corner of Paxton Avenue and the trail, near Cryo Place.

About the trail

Wasson Way is a multi-use greenway built on a former railway corridor, connecting Oakley and Hyde Park. According to the organization's website, the trail is a key piece of the CROWN (Cincinnati Riding or Walking Network), a planned 34-mile urban loop linking Cincinnati's major trails.

As each completed section enters its maintenance phase, landscaping becomes an ongoing need that depends on volunteer labor, according to a 2025 Living Magazines profile of the project. The sessions Behm posted represent the kind of routine upkeep that keeps the path walkable and bikeable for the hundreds of residents who use it daily.

The trail corridor has seen steady investment. A Cincy Red Bike station was installed at Wasson Way and Paxton Avenue in December 2025, marking the first bike-share location in Hyde Park.
