Oakley families looking for academic support before school resumes can send their kids to the neighborhood library for free, one-on-one tutoring in reading and math. No appointment needed.
The Oakley branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library is offering walk-in homework help for students in kindergarten through eighth grade, according to the library's summer schedule posted July 20, 2026. Sessions run Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. at 4033 Gilmore Ave., at the corner of Gilmore and Madison Road.
The program pairs each student with a tutor for individual help in reading and math. It is funded by The Library Foundation, the Charles H. Dater Foundation, and the H.B., E.W. & F.R. Luther Charitable Foundation.
Keith Armour, the library system's education and homework support manager, said in a library blog post that the homework help program has logged more than 40,000 sessions over its history. "Students that started with us in kindergarten are now coming in to share their college plans," Armour said.
The library's website notes that hours will expand once the school year begins, though a specific fall schedule has not been posted. Families can call the Oakley branch at 513-369-6900 for updates.
For students who can't visit in person, the library also offers Homework HelpNow, a free online tutoring service available seven days a week from 2 to 11 p.m. The online option covers reading, math, writing, test prep, and FAFSA help for all ages.
