Oakley has logged 403 Part 1 crimes so far in 2026, a 41.4% jump from 285 over the same period last year, according to the Cincinnati Police Department's neighborhood crime report updated Monday, July 27.
Personal and other theft accounts for nearly all of the increase.
That category hit 327 incidents year-to-date, up 61% from 203 in 2025 and well above the three-year average of 223. The concentration of theft reports on the 3100–3200 blocks of Geier Drive, the 3700–3800 blocks of Paxton Avenue, and the 4600 block of Marburg Avenue points to geographic clusters rather than a neighborhood-wide spread. The 3200 block of Oakley Station Boulevard also appeared as a repeated theft hotspot in an earlier CPD snapshot covering the period through Saturday, July 4, with multiple incidents logged on Monday, June 15 alone.
Recent weeks show improvement
The most recent 28-day window, June 28 through July 25, brought a different picture. Total Part 1 crime fell 40.85% to 42 incidents, down from 71 in the prior four-week stretch. Personal theft dropped by half during that span, from 59 incidents to 29.
That short-term dip is real but hasn't erased the annual gap. Oakley's 403-incident total still runs 22.9% above the neighborhood's three-year average of 328. The surge isn't just a rebound from a quiet 2025. It's hotter than the recent baseline by any measure.
Violent crime down, auto theft down
Not every category is climbing. Violent crime actually fell year-to-date: four incidents in 2026 versus five in 2025, a 20% decrease. The year's violent total includes one homicide, one rape, one robbery, and one strangulation. The only violent incident in the most recent 28-day period was a rape reported on the 4000 block of Leesburg Lane on Thursday, July 9.
Auto theft is also down sharply: 18 incidents versus 27 last year, a 33% drop. Theft from autos, however, rose 60% in the latest 28-day period, with incidents on Allendorf Drive, Madison Road, Ridge Avenue, and Alamo Avenue between Tuesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 23.
Burglary and breaking-and-entering fell 60% in the most recent four weeks, with just two reported incidents: one at 4100 Paxton Woods Lane on Saturday, July 4, and another at 2900 Markbreit Avenue on Friday, July 24.
What's next
CPD's Crime Analysis unit notes all data is preliminary and subject to further review. Neither CPD Interim Chief Adam Hennie nor the Oakley Community Council, administered by Joe Groh, has publicly addressed the year-to-date trend. Residents can access the full District 2 neighborhood report through CPD's online portal.
The next CPD data update covering the period through late August should show whether the recent four-week improvement holds or whether the annual surge resumes.
