Hyde Park Farmers Market will serve as the launch point for a new regional farmers market tour when Green Umbrella's Food Policy Council makes its first stop on Sunday, August 2, at Hyde Park Square.

The visit kicks off the council's inaugural Summer Farmers Market Tour and National Farmers Market Week, which runs August 2 through Saturday, August 8. Food Policy Council staff will be on-site from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2700 Erie Ave., sharing resources on food access, food waste, and healthy eating.

The event is free.

"Nothing compares to a locally grown head of broccoli, a freshly picked heirloom tomato, or a sweet ear of local corn," Kelly St. Charles wrote in a July 29 blog post announcing the schedule. "The truth is, local food just tastes better."

St. Charles, who authored the tour announcement for Green Umbrella, said the Food Policy Council will celebrate "all things local food" across six market stops through September.

Visitors on August 2 can pick up materials from Hamilton County ReSource, a CORV Food Guide, or a copy of Edible Ohio Valley magazine.

Hyde Park Farmers Market operates every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Erie Avenue between Edwards and Michigan avenues. The 2026 season opened May 10 and runs through at least September 27, according to Cincinnati Parks. The market bills itself as a "producers' market," meaning all goods come directly from local family farms and small-batch food artisans.

Current vendors include Christopher Farm, which holds both USDA Certified Organic and Real Organic Project certifications; The Eaton Farm, selling pasture-raised chicken, turkey, beef, pork, and eggs; FAB Ferments, known for kombucha, kimchi, and sauerkraut; Baudry French Pastries; and Buttercat Dairy, which makes cultured butter, buttermilk, and biscuits. Produce and flowers at the market are grown without synthetic chemicals or GMO seed.

The six-stop tour continues through mid-September, visiting Madeira Farmers Market on Thursday, August 6; Covington Farmers Market on Saturday, August 29; Boone County Farmers Market on Saturday, September 5; Northside Farmers Market on Wednesday, September 9; and Westwood Farmers Market on Thursday, September 17.
