A 25-year-old man faces four criminal charges after police say he and a juvenile accomplice smashed display cases at the Watches of Switzerland store inside Kenwood Towne Centre and stole $123,200 worth of watches.

Jordan Maurice Grimes, of Douglasville, Georgia, was charged with theft, tampering with evidence, possessing criminal tools, and criminal damaging, according to criminal complaints filed with the Hamilton County Municipal Court. The tampering charge stems from Grimes' alleged attempt to hide the stolen watches from police, according to FOX19.

The theft happened around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, according to court documents cited by WLWT. The suspects used sledgehammers to break glass display cases and grab the watches, according to police radio traffic reported by WLWT. A criminal complaint states that a hammer connected to the crime was found in Grimes' possession.

After the smash-and-grab, the two suspects ran through Nordstrom and left the mall on the Montgomery Road side, according to WLWT.

Hamilton County deputies located the suspects after their vehicle was flagged by a Flock license-plate reader in Warren County, according to an arrest report. Both were taken to the Mason Police Department for questioning. Grimes was then transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center.

A 17-year-old was also arrested in connection with the theft. The juvenile has not been publicly identified.

Grimes was given a $22,500 bond. He appeared in Hamilton County Municipal Court on Saturday, July 25, on the tampering with evidence and possessing criminal tools charges. He is scheduled to return to court on Friday, July 31, for the theft and criminal damaging charges.

Cincinnati police and the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office have not commented publicly on the case.
