More than 600 runners and walkers filled Oakley Square on August 2, as Dewey's Pizza hosted its Run to Raise Dough 5K, raising money for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and 1N5, a Cincinnati-based suicide prevention organization, Spectrum News 1 reported.

The annual race, which Dewey's launched in 2018, has now hosted more than 2,000 runners over its history and raised over $240,000 for local organizations, according to Local 12, citing the event's website.

The race started at Dewey's Oakley Square location on Madison Road.

After-party in the Geier Esplanade

Participants crossed the finish line and headed into a post-race celebration in the Geier Esplanade. Dewey's promoted the after-party on its Instagram account ahead of the race, promising family-friendly activities, local vendors, and fresh pizza.

Local businesses joined as after-party partners, including Aglamesis Bros., Bonbonerie, Esoteric Beer, Good News Coffee Brews, Baked by Brown Butter, Round 2 Vision, StretchLab, and the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Local beneficiaries

The two 2026 beneficiaries both have roots in the neighborhood. 1N5, headquartered on Smith Road in the Oakley area, works to prevent suicide by building mental health literacy in schools, communities, and workplaces. The organization's name references the statistic that one in five people live with a mental health condition. Cincinnati Children's, one of the nation's leading pediatric centers, is located in nearby Avondale.

Dewey's Pizza operates locations on Madison Road in Oakley Square and in Hyde Park, making the 5K a hometown event for the chain. Registration for the 2026 race was priced between $15 and $45.
