Chamberlain University's Cincinnati campus finished its inaugural eight-week nursing session Oct. 24 and rolled straight into its second term two days later. The Sycamore Township school is now shifting from startup mode into the steady cadence of a working nursing program.

The campus at 5905 E. Galbraith Road in the Kenwood Collection welcomed its first cohort of Bachelor of Science in Nursing students Aug. 31. It is Chamberlain's 25th campus nationwide.

Priya Shastri, executive campus director, said one standout moment from the opening term came when a student told campus staff it was the first school where she felt "genuinely cared for." Shastri said seeing faculty become personally invested in students during the first month was one of the defining experiences since the campus opened.

What the program looks like

Chamberlain runs a three-year BSN with evening and weekend scheduling, no prerequisite coursework and six enrollment windows per year, according to the university's Cincinnati campus page. Students train in a simulation lab called the SIMCARE CENTER before moving into clinical rotations with local health system partners. Inside the lab, high-fidelity mannequins blink, sweat and voice discomfort while an instructor controls the scenario from behind the scenes, the Mason-Deerfield Times reported.

The campus opened as the Cincinnati region faces a steep healthcare workforce gap. Employers across the metro posted nearly 50,000 healthcare job openings last year, with six open positions for every healthcare graduate in the region, according to the 2026 Covista Care Capacity Monitor. Covista is Chamberlain's parent company. Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus said at the Aug. 20 ribbon cutting that the region has faced a nursing shortage since COVID, Fox 19 reported.

"We have suffered from a shortage of nurses really since COVID," Driehaus said. "And so Chamberlain University opening up here — we're thrilled to have them coming to Cincinnati."

What's next

The November session runs Oct. 26 through Dec. 19, according to Chamberlain’s academic calendar. The next session begins Jan. 4, 2027, and prospective students can apply before that start date.
